White Hall Centre is one of the country’s leading outdoor education centres. It opened over seventy years ago in 1951 as Britain’s first local education authority outdoor centre. The Centre has given thousands of individuals unforgettable learning experiences through participation in a range of outdoor pursuits and activities. The friends of White Hall Centre is a charity set up to support Whitehall Centre, raising awareness of the Centre and securing funding for projects that Derbyshire County Council are unable to support. The aim of the charity is to ensure the Centre can continue to offer people in Derbyshire the opportunity to learn the skills they need to enjoy outdoor pursuits and feel safe and confident in the countryside.

Specific Responsibilities of the Secretary’s Role:
• Ensuring good governance and adherence to the charity’s terms of reference
• Assisting the Chairperson in running trustee board meetings, minuting meetings, documenting decisions, and following up on agreed actions
• Ensuring all regulatory filings and returns are submitted by the charity in a timely manner
• Providing a first point of contact for individuals keen to join the charity as trustees or friends

Majority of work can be done from home but If meeting face to face, this typically happens at White Hall Centre, Long Hill, Buxton, Derbyshire, SK17 6SX
